The Senior Accountant will be part of the Finance and Accounting Team and will support the financial operations of the firm, ensuring accurate reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, compliance with regulatory standards, and timely execution of accounting functions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in the financial services sector.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA in a hybrid work schedule.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and analysis. 
  • Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations and research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain and improve the integrity of the general ledger and financial reports
  • Provide financial support, AR, AP, Invoice payment, distribution processing, etc. for several independent advisor groups
  • Analyze expense accruals, prepaid expenses, and revenue accounts and reconcile accordingly
  • Complete monthly invoicing process and all associated entries for billable advisory groups
  • Assist with the annual financial audit process, including provision of supporting schedules and sample documentation
  • Complete intercompany reconciliations in conjunction with other Accounting staff
  • Assist with annual budget and reforecast process, provide invoice copies, log discrepancies for future discussions, feedback on how expenses are reflected on P&L
  • Assist with monthly financial analysis and analytics comparing actuals to Budget/Reforecast
  • Maintain fixed asset and lease accounting ledgers, where applicable
  • Assist with bank transaction processing and posting, daily cash responsibilities.
  • Maintain, update, and follow standard operating procedures within the accounting & finance department in addition to following corporate policies and procedures
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed

 

Skills / Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the financial services industry
  • Proven ability of completing simple to complex journal entries
  • Month-end closing experience
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel
  • Financial statement analysis
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced and growing environment
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational & communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and constantly evolving accounting team
  • CPA or working towards becoming a CPA preferred but not required
  • Prior public accounting audit experience a plus, but not required
