Sr. QA Analyst (PA, Pittsburgh)

Job Summary

The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst, reports to the QA Manager (PMO). They will work with the business and development teams to strategize, design and execute functional and performance tests to ensure that new and existing systems’ features and functions meet quality and performance expectations. This team member will help maintain and report on QA metrics.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA – hybrid

Responsibilities

  • Conduct static testing and analysis of user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Provide actionable feedback on missing, unclear, or conflicting requirements.
  • Champion a shift-left testing mindset—testing early and often throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Continuously solicit and integrate feedback from team members and stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, contributing during planning and refinement sessions to clarify requirements and assess user experience impact.
  • Support automation efforts through pair programming and code reviews.
  • Communicate proactively regarding risks, testing progress, and quality concerns.
  • Mentor junior team members to enhance both their technical and soft skills.
  • Design and maintain self-contained, well-documented, maintainable, and reusable test cases.
  • Log detailed defects with clear steps to reproduce, and collaborate on issue resolution.
  • Support the investigation of technical support issues when necessary.
  • Execute tests across various levels (unit, integration, system, and regression) as appropriate.
  • Prioritize test activities based on deadlines, risk, and business impact.
  • Contribute to go/no-go decisions through analysis of test results and remaining issues.
  • Make informed recommendations on release readiness and potential delays.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a structured approach to testing.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data retrieval and data manipulation
  • 1–2 years of hands-on test automation experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with project and task management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
  • Proficient in using test management systems (e.g., Zephyr, TestRail, ADO Test Plans).
  • Skilled at context-switching and managing multiple priorities.
  • Proactive self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and initiative.
  • Experienced in API testing using tools such as Postman, Insomnia, or similar.
  • Familiarity with testing cloud-based platforms and SaaS applications.
  • Experience contributing to test strategies and planning for mid-sized or multiple small projects.
  • Understanding of requirements traceability and test coverage mapping.

 

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience generating custom test data for complex test scenarios.
  • Test automation using Playwright (Cypress or Selenium experience also acceptable).
  • Familiarity with data generation libraries such as Faker.js or Falso.
  • Ability to generate insightful test reports and dashboards.
  • Experience with version control tools (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket).
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Prior experience testing in Salesforce environments is a plus.
  • Prior experience creating knowledge base articles in Confluence
